CHANGE MAKER'S CONFERENCE

Arunesh of class XII A has won the first place in changemaker's conference organized by Bhavan's Rajaji vidyashram. His project "FIT FOR ALL" is an endeavour to kindle fitness in the youth of today. He is helping the youth of the slums to develop a strong body and a strong mind. It is true that the youth of today are the strength of tomorrow.....



GTA award (2015) for Ms. Um Sriram : CVP report

Global Teacher Accreditation (GTA) project is a unique opportunity to gain recognition for high-quality professional practice. The British Council and Cambridge Education Foundation, work together to conduct GTA programme, funded by the UK Aid and promote a global dimension in the school curriculum. Teachers work on "Action Research Projects" based on guidelines given by facilitators from Cambridge Education. Participant Teachers are provided Local Mentors and training on the Process and Framework of Working on Action Research.
Mrs. Uma Sriram, TGT-Mathematics, conducted an Action Research on the students of Class 10. She completed her project successfully and was conferred with GTA award by the British Council and Cambridge Education Foundation at an award ceremony in New Delhi on 9th July, 2015. Her topic of study was "How can I help my grade 10 students comprehend Word problems in Linear Equation?"
This research programme focused on Integrated Development of students.The action research covered three major areas viz. a) Language comprehension, b) Critical thinking and c) Problem solving skills. Statistical analysis and feedback survey after implementing Co-operative Learning (CL) strategies, indicated a marked improvement (success rate: from 38% to 83%) in students' comprehension of word problems and social skills. More importance was attached to the process and not the final product alone. Self-esteem and confidence of learners, especially introverts enhanced, thereby giving them the mental and emotional strength.
Teaching style was adjusted to match each student’s distinct learning style. Teacher as a facilitator was able to involve all the students, guide and clarify their doubts, help them communicate better. Different Word problems have different terms/situations showcasing various cultures. Patriotism, Knowledge of Indian culture and Universal outlook was brought about. Students could accept and appreciate both the similarities and differences between the two cultures/countries.



SPARTAN SPELL BEE - NATIONAL LEVEL

Pranav Jaikumar of Class II D, Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road, participated in the Spartan Spelling Bee competition held on 14th June 2015 and came second in the National level competition. He was awarded a cup, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1500/-.

The students of class XI - C Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road won the overall championship at com - conclave conducted by the commerce department of guru shreeshantivijaijain school. The enthusiasm presented by the students of our school was remarkable. Pragun Jindal and Darshith Jain came first in presenting the pixels. In the commerce quiz, Ujjwal Jain and Vishal Mehta bagged the first place as well. TusharMundra and Hariharan acquired the second place in corporate bingo and AnkitaSanghvi secured the first place in fire and freeze. The students of our school showcased their talents very well, climbed up the ladder and emerged victorious.

  

WEST CHENNAI SAHODAYA CLUSTER SCHOOLS AWARD

Smt. A. Esther Rani the Physical Education teacher of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road received the Best Teacher Award from the West Chennai Sahodaya Cluster Schools for her meritorious service on 11 September 2015. She has completed 25 years of service and is well known for her organising skills and innovative ideas.



WIZARD WITH A BRUSH

M Ragul Raj of VII C Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road won the Splash drawing competition and was adjudged 'The madras circle Winner'. He was presented a Lenovo Tab worth Rs.10800/-

S Sunaiana of VI A participated in the 'India Inspired' competition conducted by' AAVISHKAAR INDIA' and was aw2arded a certificate of appreciation for her painting on 'How to make India a great country.'

  

BLOSSOMING BUD

Neisha Rajani of IV C of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road won the smart kid award and trophy for her overall performance in essay writing, poem recitation and handwriting competition conducted by Global Achievers Foundations on a Talent hunt venture.

In the Abacus and Vedic Maths State level competition conducted by Sunshine education Academy Naisha Rajani of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road completed 50 sums in the time duration of nine minutes and secured the second place in the junior category.

  

A BUDDING WRITER

HarshitChandel of IX A Chinmaya Vidyalaya Tayors Road is a lover of fantasy and Science Fiction stories.he has written seven to eight stories. An Eye for an Eye is his first complete fiction published. This story is based on how LIde the Alien Species comes to earth to avenge his planet's destruction caused by human beings.

In the inter-school Symposium hosted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School- Virugambakkam on the topic "YatAaharam tat bhavati" What you are is what you eat, the team from our vidyalaya represented by SameehaShroff, Nayanthara and Shruti Iyer of Std- XII along with their Biology teacher- Mrs. Vasanthy Vijayakumar were placed Ist. They won a lot of appreciation from the judges for their innovative way of presenting the topic.



THE WORLD SCHOLARS CUP 2015 - GLOBAL ROUND

KUALA LUMPUR

The World Scholars cup is an event that aims at bringing different cultures and countries together to encompass both learning and fun. VidhanBhaiya, Shruthi Iyer and SiddanthJalan of class XII qualified for the global round after winning the Regional round in Chennai. The competitions included the Scavenger hunt, debate, creative writing, MCQ test and a quiz competition. The team from Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road was one among the top five percent of the teams qualified for the final round to be held at Yale University in November. VidhanBhaiya was placed in the top five percent of the debators and was placed fifth among all the scholars from South Asia. Shruthi Iyer was placed first among the scholars in South Asia.

The Times NIE Newsmaker's meet was held at Maharishi Vidya Mandir Sr. Sec School on 24 August 2015. Sunil Subramaniam a distinguished Ranji Trophy player and an excellent Coach was the chief guest. Shruthi Iyer of class XII and Suyash Surana of class XI represented Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road and posed questions to the chief guest. Suyash Surana has been selected at the Star Student Reporter for The Times of India for the year 2015-16. This event aimed at encouraging the new generation to become journalists.

  

Chinmaya Vision Award

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylors Road received the "Chinmaya Vision award " conferred by Chinmaya Mission, for the academic year 2013 -14 on 22nd May 2015 at CIRS Coimbatore. The vice Principal Mrs Valsala Gopakumar received the award from Poojya Guruji, Tejomayanandaji. This coveted award is given for incorporating 'Chinmaya Vision Programme' in all aspect of the functioning of the school. It was fortunate to receive the award in the birth centenary year of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda.

Sanket B Mehta and Sowmya Sivakumar (100% in Mathematics), Shoba Manoj (99% in Economics) and Ajit Sudhakaran (98% in Physics) received a commendation letter signed by Smriti Zubin Irani - Minister for Human Resource and Development.

MINDSKOOL - ESSAY WRTITING COMPETITION



Vidhan Bhaiya and Hemang Shah of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylors road, participated in an essay writing competition conducted by the Alumni of IIT - Karagpur in association with The Hindu on 12 July, 2014. They were placed the runners up at the State Level and were awarded a five day trip to IIT Karagpur as part of the research initiative.

REPORT ON AN INTER SCHOOL SYMPOSIUM COMPETITION

"ECHO THE ETHICS AND ETHOS IN MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES"


NipunKakarla, Ketan Jain of class XII and Kavita Sharma teacher of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road participated in a symposium on 9 September 2015 held at Virugambakkam. Their topic was "ECHO THE ETHICS AND ETHOS IN MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES" They picked up the three most important principles of management based on Indian Scriptures and related it to the management today.

1. Significance of teamwork
2. Discrimination
3. Manager's decision-making ability

They presented the above principles based on different facets of life, Nipun did it based on the Indian Scriptures, Ketan explained these principles on organizational level and me in accordance with day-to-day life.

They won the first prize among 13 schools and judges were higher officials from Cognizant and Tata Consultancy Services.



Athletics-Dashing to victory

Nithin of class X-C was placed 2nd in the 200m and 3rd in the 100m race in the CBSE National Athletic meet held from 8 January 2015 to 12 January 2015. More than 100 students participated from all over India.



BADMINTON CHAMP

Aadit Limaye of class VII, was placed third in the under 13 singles, Six Star Badminton Academy State Level Tournament held on 17th January 2015. He emerged as the runner-up in the under 13 boys category.



ROAD SAFETY PATROL - REPUBLIC DAY PARADE

S. Subhiksha of class IX was selected for the Republic Day Parade held on 26 th January at the Marina Beach. She was a part of the Girls regiment and was appreciated for her performance. She was awarded a certificate.



THE BOURNVITA QUIZ CONTEST 2015

The Yipee Bournvita Quiz Contest 2015 was held at our Vidyalaya on 11 th February 2015. Our team emerged as the first runner-up among 46 schools in the city. The team comprised of Tharun Gurunath - VA , Varun Iyer - VI A , Smriti Mahesh - VII C.



YOUNG SCIENTIST INDIA 2015

S. Aditya Narayan, student of Std. IX B won a special prize in the 'YOUNG SCIENTIST INDIA 2015', science competition held for the students of Std IX to XII, organized jointly by 'The Hindu' and the 'Space Kidz India'. He designed a working model of a water level indicator.



CHENNAI REGION BRAIN BEE- 2015

The Brain Bee is a quiz competition on Neurosciences for students who have exceptional credentials in Biology and have an interest to pursue careers in healthcare. In the Chennai Region Brain Bee - 2015 quiz conducted on January 10th - 2015 at the S.S.S.SHASUN JAIN COLLEGE FOR WOMEN- CHENNAI at the end of a written test and 3 oral rounds SAMEEHA SHROFF was placed second and SHRUTI .N. IYER WAS PLACED THIRD. Based on the cumulative scores.



BUDDING CHESS STALWART

S P Keerthana of class IV C is a budding chess champion. She has won accolades in many chess tournaments. She has been placed II in the State Level Inter School chess tournament and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.16000/-. She was also placed III in the inter school CBSE chess tournament. She has also performed commendably in the 27th Tamil Nadu state U-9 boys and girls chess championship 2014 and 10th KCF FIDE Rating chess tournament.





LEGAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME - A PLATFORM TO EDUCATE YOUNSTERS ON THE ISSUES OF LAW

Swetha Surana of class XI C gave a presentation on “Child Abuse” based on The Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Amendment Act of 2006 on 22 November 2014 at Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust. Her presentation was well received and greatly appreciated by the audience.



PSBB BUSINESS BATTLE 2014

The Commerce group of our Vidyalaya, participated in the Commerce Cultural Extravaganza held at PSBB, KK Nagar on 15 October, 2014 and bagged the overall trophy.





THREAD AND MAGIC

P L UMA of class IX, ChinmayaVidyalaya Taylors Road, received a consolation prize of Rs 1000/- in the Master Wizard Category of the Thread and Magic 2014 at the National Level. This stitching contest was organized by Coats Anchor Edu service. The craft teacher of our Vidyalaya, MrsVijayalakshmi also recievedRs 1000/- for her dedicated service in inspiring students to achieve new heights in creative excellence.

NOBLE VISION - WINNER OF THE 'CHANGE MAKERS CONFERENCE'



Drishti Jain of XII B, won the Changemaker's conference 2014, conducted by the Debate Club of Bhavans Rajaji Vidyashram on 19 July 2014. Her project Noble vision aims to help the blind students by donating old record books, making audio CD's with the help of students and volunteering to 'Read for Blind' with a team of students. The project is being funded by the organizers with an initial amount of Rs. 25,000/-.

BEST TEACHER AWARD

The West Chennai Sahodhaya Cluster Schools conferred the Best Teacher Award for the academic year 2013-14 to MrsLatha Narayanan, the Librarian of our school, for her meritorious service. Mrs Latha Narayanan's contribution to equip the library and make it one of the best school library in the city has been appreciated.



MANIFESTINING DIVINITY - AN OPPORTUNITITY TO KNOW ABOUT GURUDEV AND OUR VIDYALAYAS



Four teachers of ChinmayaVidyalaya Taylors Road, Smt Meenakshi K, Smt Latha Ganesan, Smt Sangeetha V and Smt M S Padmini were the all India finalists who went to Chinmaya Gardens - Coimbatore for the quiz on the book "Manifesting Divinity". They were presented with a cheque of Rs 3000/- , a certificate and the Chinmaya lamp by Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji. They were among the top 25 selected out of 3880 teachers out of 85 schools who wrote the examination.
