Health Club

The Health club initiates activities to promote awareness on various diseases by providing information on the symptoms, causes and precautions to be taken up to control the disease. Encourages students to participate in social welfare programmes and creates awareness on personal hygiene and physical grooming habits.

HEALTH CLUB & ECO CLUB - LET'S GO GREEN
The Health club and the Eco club jointly organized a talk on "Roof Top Gardening " on the 31 October, 2014 for the students of class VII and VIII.
Mrs. S Veeralakshmi, proprietor - 'Chennai Organic' highlighted the importance of organic farming and the harmful effects of chemical farming. She also explained to the students the hazards of consuming chemically grown farm products. With the depleting greenery due to industrialization, she put forth the innovative idea of Roof Top Gardening. In short "Be Organic Be Healthy" was the message she conveyed to the students.

Anxiety and sleeplessness are the common problems faced by students. Dr. N. Ramakrishnan, the chief of critical medicine and sleep science in the Apollo Group of Hospitals addressed the students of class X, XI and XII, on 8th December 2014. He gave an insight on the importance of sleep and the problems associated with lack of adequate sleep.

Interact Club

Training the mind is essential for today's youth to be an emotionally balanced person, as it the youth who will create better world tomorrow.

The inauguration of the interact club on 27 July 2015 saw the chief guest Mr.Nirmal inspiring the young minds to think global ,act local and suggested many innovative methods to do so through his talks..

AKSHAYA PATRA- PROJECT
Nutrition plays an important vital role in the physical well being .Children should learn not to waste food and be aware of those less fortunate who do not get anything to eat.

A humble beginning of project AKSHAYA PATRA by the interactors of our school donated 30 kgs of rice and Provisions ( Dal + Oil + Salt + Sugar) to "The Puruswalkam Annadhana Samajam" on 14th August 2015 and donated 60 kgs of foodgrains ( Rice 40 kgs + Dal 20 kgs ), Chocolates and Biscuits – 150 pcs (all vegetarian) and 35-40 pairs of civil clothes to ‘Annai Anbu Karangal’ on 19th August 2015. The staffs from this charitable trust were indeed very happy to receive a heavy amount of donation from school students and sent a thanksgiving letter to express their happiness.

(HEALTH ASSESSMENT) - INITIATIVE
One of the important role of a school is to ensure the good health of children. Health checkup in schools make parents aware of the problems his/her ward might have and get treated thereafter.

On the event of collaboration with the rotary club of Chennai coastal organization in Chennai, the interact club decided to have a dental and eye check up for the students of classes 4th to 12th. The dental and eye care camp was conducted on the 8th, 9th and the 10th of September and around 1100 students, along with teaching and non - teaching staff were checked up.

Waste to wealth - PROJECT
Finding a new use for an existing thing opens up the brain to more possibilities.

Implementation

The bubbling interactors again came up with a new idea of collecting the old newspapers which they sold for a sum of Rs.1130.On the occasion of 'Guru Utsav' (Teachers Day) the Interact Club decided to donate 30 Tiffin Boxes to the Teaching staff of BalaVihar.

Implementation

At the RYLA(Rotary Youth Leadership Awards organized by The Rotary Club, Anna Nagar) camp (an annual feature)on Aug 2015 at DRBCCC Hindu College, the interact club members of our school participated in the cultural events and won the overall championship. One of the interesting event was to wrap themselves like a mummy where a tissue paper was used to wrap aroundthe body.

Value education is an important part in emotional expansion as it helps adolescent children to count their blessings and not crib over petty things.

The tentacles activities of interactors spread with a different objective. Mr. and Mrs. Raghuvir, who lost their only son(VelanRaghuvir an alumni of ours School) to Duchene Muscular Dystrophy in 1998. Rather than lamenting the untimely bereavement of their son, they made up their minds to continue the torch lit by him – to make the general public responsive to the needs of similar victims. The Foundation was registered as a Trust in 1993. The Shakti Foundation’s message – ‘Heal the World’; its mission statement – ‘Life is short. So work/play hard’. The members of the Interact Club decided to share the joy of freedom with some special people on independence day by donating boxes of chocolates to the Shakti Foundation.

Implementation

This time ( the non-stop activity)the Interact Club donated about 150 pairs of clothes to a NGO – UdhavamKaarangal on Sept 2015. The donations ranged from civil clothes to uniforms for the age groups of below 10 category and below 15 category. These clothes were donated by the students of class 4 to class 8 of our Vidyalaya

(Education in citizenship)
The child's relationship with society requires a value such as civic consciousness and concern for the less fortunate in society.
The interactors visited the Balavihar on 15 August 2015 (A home and Day care centre for mentally challenged children) on independence day and donated 25 kgs of rice, 30kgof dal, 200 pieces of chocolates and clothes.

'GajBharKapda' is an initiative of Rajasthan Cosmo Club.
A cloth bank was kept in our school premises to facilitate the collection of clothes. The number of contributors increased each day and at the end of the third day, the Interact Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road was successful in collecting 300 to 350 pairs (approximately) of clothes. Interactors ensured that the clothes donated were of good quality and checked whether they were in wearable condition. These clothes were then donated to Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation on 18th September 2015. This marked the end of our 1 th project and the process of beginning the next one.

Environmental education(Water harvesting)
"WATER WATER EVERYWHERE BUT NOT A SINGLE DROP TO DRINK"

There is an urgent need to change our attitude to nature else we will be eliminated from this planet.

Implementation

Everyday interact club members collect extra water from water bottles of students of our Vidyalaya and use it for watering plants.

A small initiative towards conservation of water


Interact is Rotary's International service club for young people aged 14-18 years. The Interact Club of our school is sponsored, guided and supported by the Rotary club of Anna Nagar East. The club aims at developing leadership skills and personal integrity, understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others and advancing international understanding and goodwill.

Swachh Chinmaya Abhiyan
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a national level campaign led by the Government of India . The campaign is India's biggest ever cleanliness drive and about 3 million government employees, school and college students of India participated in this event. In the wake of this campaign the Interact club members of our Vidyalaya, went on a drive "Swachh Chinmaya Aabhiyan", an initiative to clean our school which commenced on the 9 th of January.

GOLD HEART FOUNDATION - AN ENDEAVOUR TO TOUCH THE LIVES OF THE LESS PRIVILEGED
The Interactors of our school touched the lives of young children by conducting 'value education sessions' at the Government Boys Home, Royapuram under the wing of the Gold Heart Foundation.

The Interactors made hourly visit to the home every Saturday from 29 November 2014 till date with the aim of imparting value education to the underprivileged.

NATIONAL POSTAL DAY - LET'S WRITE TO REVIVE THE OLD HABITS OF WRITING TO OUR LOVED ONES
The Interactors of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylors Road clelebrated the World Postal Day by making Students of class IX to XII to write a letter to their grandparents. It was a wonderful endevour by the members of the Interact Club which brought alive the old means of communication- 'Letters' amidst the e mail, Whats app and messaging. Children enjoyed writing to their grandparents as it was a wonderful means to express their love for them.

"Oral Hygiene" - "Smile for life"
To create awareness among the students on "Oral Hygiene" the Interactorsof ChinmayaVidyalaya, Taylors Road, observed the "Smile for life" week. This began with a speech in the morning assembly by Gunjanchabbria of class XI on 1 September 2014. Students put up poems, tips for healthy teeth and other interesting articles on the Notice Board. This was an endeavour to inculcate good oral habits in children.

The Interact club installation for the year 2014-15 was held on 21 stJuly in the school auditorium .The guest of honor were Mr. Elijah Mathew, Secretary of Rotary club, Ms. Geetha Gopinath and Mr. Gireeshan Director of Rotary club .

The 13th of August marked a special day for the interact club. This day the first project of the year YOGAKSHENA VAHA- MHYAHAM was inaugurated by Swami Chidrupanandaji. This project involved collection of tuar dal and sugar from students and teachers of this vidyalaya and to donate these to the needy.

A VISIT TO KALISELVI KARUNALYA - MOGAPPAIR
The Students of the Interact Club of the Vidyalaya, made a real difference in the lives of the less fortunate by celebrating Independence day with the inmates of the Kalaiselvi Karunalaya social Welfare Society in Mogappair. The Students donated toys, chocolates, tuar dal and sugar to the inmates. They also sang songs, danced and enacted a skit on "Vanchinathan". The visit made the interactors count their blessings and made them realize how they could bring a smile into the lives of thousands through their self- less service.

Karuna Club

The Karuna Club is an effective medium to promote non-violence and compassion among the present generation. The club imparts "Humane Education". The main objective is to create awareness amongst students and to kindle the feeling of love, kindness and compassion towards all living beings, animals and plant life.

Activities :
INTER SCHOOL COMPETITION
Karuna International inter school competition was held on 22nd August 2015 in Chinmaya Vidyalaya Viruganbakam. Students from various schools showcased their talents in various events.
Forty students from Chinmya Vidyalaya Taylors Road participated in above mentioned completion among them Naisha
Rajani of IV C won the 1st prize in the poetry recitation. Rohan and Hridaya of VII bagged the 1st prize in poster making. Nehal and her group added a feather to the crown by winning 2nd prize in the dance competition.

Every person deserves happiness. When you make others happy and see smiles on their faces you too get excited. Despite of giving away your belongings you will feel satisfied as you have done a good task.
To inculcate these feelings in students Karuna Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road on 15th August 2015 celebrated the Independence Day with the inmates of Balvihar: A unique institution for Mentally Retarded students.
Various cultural programmes were given by the students to bring smile on the faces of the blooming buds of Balvihar. Club also donated groceries like rice, sugar, pulses and chocolates.

Karuna Club Inauguration
Karuna club inauguration cum training Programme for the year 2015 - 2016 was held on Saturday 1st Aug 2015 in our school auditorium Mr. B.Ramanathan and Ms.Edith Beaulah form karuna international graced the occasion.

The Programme began with the karuna prayer followed by the welcome address by the vice-principal. Karuna club president Rashim of class VIII-B delivered the annual report of 2014 – 15 Mr. B. Ramanathan delivered an inspiring speech on human values. He motivated the students to respect their elders and also their fellow beings. He cited various examples of Gandhiji that could be followed in one’s life.

The session after the tea break by MS. Edith Beaulah dealt with Karuna Values like: Be happy all the time, Live and let live others and also respect time because time is like running water which never comes again.

Give and spread love
Any form of prayer establishes a personal relationship with God through simple Spiritual techniques like service to poor and needy

On the Independence Day,students and members of the teaching faculty donated biscuits, chocolates, and stationary items that were collected by the students of our school to little drops of orphanage. The events of the day included band, distribution of magazines and clothes, and serving lunch prepared by them.

GRANDPARENTS DAY

The Karuna club and the Interact Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylors Road, organized the Grandparent’s day on the 29th of October to honour and thank the grandparents for their love, affection and their consistent support. Our grandparents’ are our heritage and it is through them our values are strengthened.

The grandparents along with their grandchildren actively participated in the various events like 'Getting to know', 'Karaoke' etc. Dr Senthinathan, who graced the occasion addressed the gathering highlighting the geriatric syndromes. A cultural programmed was also organized and prizes were distributed to the winning grandparents. It was a wonderful way of thanking grandparents who have always been a source of inspiration and love.

A HAND THAT GIVES GATHERS...
Charity is a joyous feeling which we enjoy in the smile of the needy. Actions speak louder than words. Love can not only be expressed by words but through deeds also.

The Karuna Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road, donated groceries like rice, sugar, pulses to the inmates of Uduvum Karangal - Arumbakkam on the 16 of October. The students learnt the importance of charity and the happiness of giving.

A poster related to the topic was prepared by Darshan Nahar of Class VIII B. Students were motivated to Go Green and save Mother earth

Eco Club

Eco club undertakes activities related to environment or sustainability related issues. The main objectives of the club are to raise awareness and understanding of environmental degradation, to instill a sense of responsibility for the environment and a personal commitment to protect and preserve the environment and to educate and cultivate an appreciation and interest in conserving the nature.

Activities :
SWATCH BHARATH ABHIYAN - UNIVERSAL OUTLOOK
Cleanliness begins at home. Students were encouraged to clean their book shelves and maintain orderliness.

Students visited under privileged children and served them. A giving hand is a gathering one.
